Managing Bookmarks

A page towards an online/offline library of quotations, references and other bookmarks in DeepaMehta.

Ideas for the first Use Case

Usability

  • Feed all Webpages in DeepaMehta into a Firefox Toolbar.
  • Allow a simple POST of a Webpage to make a Bookmar from the Firefox Address Bar or through dragging an URL onto the toolbar.

Technically

  • I think that importing the Firefox JSON-dump once into DeepaMehta might be pretty straightforward to do, in a day or so.
  • So how could Firefox get a new toolbar and how could this be live-feed by a DeepaMehta service ?

Model

A Bookmark is most probably an Item (Page) of a parent Item (Website) or (Page of Book) or (Article of Journal).

This should highly interface with a) the TopicType "Note" and b) the TopicType "Keyword/Tag" both non-existent yet, cause then: a) could be a place to save Quotes from a current selection in the Client providing Reading-Functionality and b) enables to match existing "Tag"-based organized Bookmark Libraries into DeepaMehta.

Interfaces

Synchronisation with different bookmark services ?

When thinking about grouping tags, some kind of special "Meta-Tag" could probably map nicely onto "Dropdown-Menus" in that firefox toolbar mentioned above. I find this interesting cause this would apply to some services I know of.. e.g. once dived into the delicious API and they also use this type called "Metatag" to allow re-grouping of simple tags and therewith in the end reorganization of bookmarks.

Firefox Plugin for the Address Bar ?

Isn`t it in general wished to sit on top of a bookmarking service and enriching it through just providing easy to use managing features ? Both to a) deliver a tool which is not yet available and solves a valid use-case and b) to get involved with another community ?

How could I share my library with friends ?
