            <title>DeepaMehta 3 v0.4.2 released</title>

                        On <span class="marker">October 26, 2010</span> DeepaMehta 3 v0.4.2 has been released and is available on the <a href="https://github.com/jri/deepamehta3/downloads">download page</a> at GitHub.
                        Main feature are file handling capabilities:
                    </p>
                    <ul>
                        <li>Represent local files as topics.
                         View/play file contents (text, image, audio, video, PDF) right inside DeepaMehta.</li>
                        <li>"Folder Canvas" plugin (optional install): Represent a local folder as a synchronizable topicmap.</li>
                        <li>"Nautilus" plugin (optional install): Put a folder under DeepaMehta control right from the GNOME desktop.</li>
                    </ul>
                    <p>
                        There are also GUI improvements and bug fixes.<br>

            <title>DeepaMehta at Mensch &amp; Computer</title>

                        On <span class="marker">September 12, 2010</span> DeepaMehta is represented at the 2nd Workshop on Personal Knowledge Management (<a href="http://2010.personalknowledge.org/">PKM 2010</a>) in Duisburg. Among the accepted papers is <a href="http://archiv.ub.uni-heidelberg.de/volltextserver/volltexte/2010/10962/pdf/foldercanvas.pdf"><i>Folder Window as Canvas</i></a> by the DeepaMehta community members Malte Reißig and Matthias Melcher. A DeepaMehta-based prototype of the paper's central idea is shown in the workshop's demo session.
                    </p>

                        The PKM 2010 workshop takes place at the German HCI conference <a href="http://interaktive-kulturen.de/Mensch_und_Computer">Mensch und Computer 2010</a>, 12-15 September in Duisburg, Germany.

                        The main feature is a completely new backend architecture:

                        <li>CouchDB is replaced by <a href="http://neo4j.org/">Neo4j</a>.</li>

            <title>DeepaMehta at ESCP Europe Campus Berlin</title>

            <title>Linux Magazine writes about DeepaMehta</title>

            <title>Development of DeepaMehta 3 started</title>

                        In <span class="marker">August 2009</span> the development of DeepaMehta 3 started. Version 3 is a complete rewrite. The aim is to combine the lessons learned from DeepaMehta 2 with todays technologies and methods. A special focus is put on modularity and a flexible plugin developer framework.
                    </p>
                    <p>
                        DeepaMehta 3 is based on <a href="http://couchdb.apache.org/">CouchDB</a> and <a href="http://lucene.apache.org/">Lucene</a>. The frontend is a single-page Ajax application, based on JavaScript, HTML 5, and its Canvas element. No Java for the moment.

            <title>DeepaMehta used in BAER project</title>

                        In <span class="marker">summer 2008</span> a group of media and computing students created a hypermedia backend with DeepaMehta for an information system for visitors to the penguin house at Berlin Zoological Garden. A Flash-based touch display was utilized as frontend. The application prototype ("SemKingPeng") was developed in the context of the <a href="http://projekt.tfh-berlin.de/baer/">BAER project</a>.
                    </p>
                    <p>
                        BAER is an interdisciplinary R&D project that deals with new concepts for zoo management and is conducted by the <a href="http://www.tfh-berlin.de/">University of Applied Sciences, Berlin</a> (TFH).

                        Since <span class="oldmarker">December 2007</span> DeepaMehta is used as a project management tool at <a href="http://www.vodafone-rnd.de/">Vodafone Group R&D Germany</a>. The employees maintain a shared corporate memory of project-relevant information resources and their relationships. Shared calendars provide an overview of the time schedule and automatized email notifies about the state of affairs.  
                    </p>

                        All DeepaMehta features developed for Vodafone, mainly collaborative features, are open source and are integrated into the upcoming DeepaMehta 2.0b8 release.

                    Publically available are a bug reporting tool, a feature request tool, a sourcecode repository and mailing lists.

                        Kiezatlas ist Open Source.
